By using Artistry, you consent to the data practices described in this Policy.

1. Information We Access and Process

Artistry acts as a bridge between you and the Spotify Web API. We do not maintain a user database, and we never ask for, receive, or store your Spotify password. We process only the information strictly necessary to provide the features you request:

Spotify Authorization Data: If you choose to log in, we utilize Spotify's secure OAuth flow to receive access and refresh tokens. These allow Artistry to act on your behalf solely while your session is active.
Playlist Generation Inputs: Artist names, playlist names, descriptions, visibility choices, track counts, and filters you provide to generate a custom playlist.
Playlist Analysis Inputs: Spotify playlist links and the corresponding metadata, track details, and audio features required to generate analysis insights.
Artist Journey Search Queries: Artist names you search for to explore their chronological discography. This feature accesses public Spotify catalog data and does not require you to log in or share personal data.
Profile Image: If authorized, Artistry temporarily retrieves your Spotify profile image to display in the navigation bar during your active session.

2. Data Retention and Storage

Artistry does not store your personal data permanently. Your session data, playlist inputs, and analysis results exist only temporarily to fulfill your immediate request. Once your session ends or you log out, your authorization tokens are discarded. Our hosting providers (such as Vercel) may temporarily process standard technical logs (e.g., IP addresses, browser types) necessary to securely route and deliver the service.

3. Cookies and Browser Storage

We use essential cookies and local storage exclusively to ensure core site functionality. These do not track you across other websites.

Authentication Cookies: Encrypted Spotify session tokens to maintain your authorized connection. These are cleared upon logging out.
Profile Display: Temporary storage of your display image URL.
Site Preferences: Local storage to remember your dark/light theme choice and cookie banner acknowledgment.

4. Disclosure of Information

We do not share your information with any third parties except Spotify. Information is shared strictly as needed to operate the service:

Spotify: We transmit requests to Spotify’s API to authenticate you, create playlists, and retrieve catalog or analysis data. This interaction is governed by the Spotify Privacy Policy.
Service Providers: We use third-party infrastructure (like Vercel) to host Artistry. If you use the optional Buy Me a Coffee widget, that service governs its own data collection.

5. Data Security

We employ industry-standard security measures for authentication and cookies where applicable, to protect against unauthorized access.

6. Your Choices and Controls

You maintain full control over your Spotify account. You can click Log Out within Artistry at any time to sever the active connection and clear session cookies. Furthermore, you can revoke Artistry’s access permanently at any time directly through your Spotify Account settings. While our cookies are essential for the website's functionality, you can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site may not work properly.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect feature additions or legal requirements. The updated effective date will be posted at the top of this page. Your continued use of Artistry constitutes acceptance of those changes.
